Departing from Portishead with the falling tide on Sunday 1st May 2005 - it is my intention to sail clockwise round the UK. I decided I did not want to do the trip on my own and it would be more fun to share it. I also realised that most people have jobs that make excessive demands on their free time and do not allow them to take off for the whole of the summer. So, I've broken the trip into smaller segments and I've cobbled together a 'motley crew' to accompany me on this adventure Participants will have to endure the cramped conditions, the vagaries of the English climate, the irascible nature of their sailing companion and contribute towards expenses. Apart from that nothing could be more fun.
Other Achilles. My experience has shown Achilles owners to be a pleasant enough bunch and it could be nice to sail with some of them. If you have an Achilles and would like to cruise along, then we'd love to hear from you. Take a look at the itinerary to see if you can join us at any stage. The chance of meeting up and sailing would be a bonus. Any local pilotage knowledge would be especially appreciated. Berths, pubs, anchorages, safe havens, hints, tips and so on. You can send a message to me via the 'Contribute' button above. Or use my entry in the Achilles 24 owner's site. Mine is to get to sail, probably more than I want to. But at least find out how much too much is. Also to see pretty and not so pretty bits of this sceptred isle, probably whilst I still can. Pubs in out of the way corners and secluded restaurants cannot be ruled out. We may moor up in interesting and cheap places and meet charming locals and witness their quaint customs. Rocyn Williams |
